Novas Initiatives has been involved in service provision in the areas of emergency and long-term housing and family support in Ireland, for the past 10 years. We are now developing a Tenancy Support and Settlement Service across West Cork which will identify the level of homelessness in the area, put in place appropriate responses to homelessness and the prevention of same, as well as informing policy on what is needed in the West Cork area to combat homeless and maintain homeless prevention. This service will also operate as an advocacy and support service for people experiencing mental health difficulties that may or may not be in an existing service. The person appointed will, in conjunction with the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) from West Cork Mental Health Service, establish long-term community-based care programmes in the Cork South City area.
This person will link in with existing services in the area (West Cork and Cork South City area) as well as the Family Resource Centres throughout the region. The staff member will also need to compile weekly statistical data which will be presented to the West Cork Homeless Forum on a monthly and quarterly basis. The person appointed will have experience of working with social deprivation, mental ill health and marginalisation and have a good knowledge of national policy and legislation as well as excellent report writing abilities.
