Out of Hours Service, Limerick

This service is operated at all times when the Homeless Persons’ Centre is closed. For four hours each day, a drop-in clinic can be accessed. Its opening hours are from 5pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday and from 2pm to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Outside of these times, a free phone emergency helpline is available at 1800 606060. It aims to ensure that people who are homeless have access to a support system through which they can be referred to and access appropriate homeless services.

Family Support Services

The Intensive Family Support Service (INFS), Limerick -

This service is located at  1 Mungret Street in Limerick City. We work with families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It is in operation since May 2005 and, on average, deals with up to forty families at any one time. Their issues can include poor money management and budgeting, medical needs, anti-social behaviour, at risk behaviour, criminal behaviour, and children entering the care system, parenting difficulties, addiction and poor mental health. The INFS advocates on behalf of its clients regarding their housing needs and other associated issues. The OHS clinic also operates from the INFS office.

The service runs two small homes for families in need of emergency accommodation and one ‘home for life’ for a family with a long history of homelessness and addiction. It is widely acknowledged by our funders that the service is a vital component of an effective preventative strategy.
