International Women’s day

From the suffrage of those before us to the work of women like past President Mary McAleese, we are proud to have a reason to celebrate International Women’s Day! Women comprise approximately 50% of all our clients and specialist services are provided to accommodate their needs. In fact, The Abigail Women’s Centre is the only dedicated female homeless service in Dublin. Last year, we supported approx. 180 families, most of whom were headed by women. In Novas itself, women contribute to nearly half our management structure on varying levels. We would also like to extend a celebration to all the hard-working women involved in the frontline of our services. We have come a long way from suffrage and believe while there is much more to go, it is within our reach.

There are lots of events taking place in our services today to mark the occasion and tonight Mary Immaculate College is preforming The Vagina Monologues in aid of Novas’ McGarry House in Limerick.
