NOVAS’ 2024 Pre-Budget Submission has called on government to increase spending on prevention services, increase housing supply, particularly one-bed units of accommodation and commit to sufficiently fund the deliverly of homeless services.

During the last 12 months, there has been a substantial rise in people expereincing homelessness. Young adults, families with young children and single people have all expereinced the sharp end of the housing and homeless crisis. The government must simultaneouly increase the supply of social and affordable housing, while investing in prevention services and supports. This approach will help to create sustainable exit pathways fron homelessness while also reducing the number of people entering the cycle of homelessness to begin with.
