NOVAS To Launch Housing First Service In Limerick

On Tuesday 14 June NOVAS will launch its Housing First service in Hook & Ladder, Sarsfield Street Limerick. The service will be launched by Deputy Jan O’Sullivan, TD at 10am.

Housing First is an internationally successful model of accommodation provision for formerly homeless individuals. For more than two years, NOVAS has run a very successful Housing First programme with the support of local landlords who provide accommodation for this marginalised group. Intensive support has been provided to tenants, which has afforded independence, self-sufficiency, community engagement and security of tenure.

With the support of Limerick City and County Council and the Limerick Homeless Action Team, NOVAS have completed the pilot and are operating a fully developed service.

We offer a range of services to ensure successful outcomes for both the tenant and the landlord including:

  • A Dedicated Housing Support Team that will provide daily support to all tenants. They will also liaise wit landlords as required to ensure successful tenancies.
  • An optional Rent Collection system can be arranged between NOVAS and the tenant with NOVAS transferring the rent via our National Housing Officer directly to the landlord.
  • A 24/7 on-call system. NOVAS will ensure that all out-of-hours queries are responded to without delay.
  • NOVAS’ Internal Maintenance Team will complete any unplanned and exceptional repairs including issues that are the responsibility of the tenant to attend to.

If you would like to learn more about Housing First and how it is changing the lives of formerly homeless people, come along to our launch at 10am on Tuesday 14th January. Any queries relating to the programme can be directed to housingfirst@novas.ie
