Welcome to our Summer 2017 E-zine.
It continues to be busy in NOVAS services, as the number of homeless people continues to grow. Of particular concern is the number of homeless families presenting in Limerick, and indeed nationally.
In a one month period from mid June to mid July, the number of homeless families in Limerick increased by 38% – from 40 to 55 families. At the time of publication the number had increased again to 59. NOVAS urges government to increase it’s supply of social housing through building new stock and acquiring existing vacant homes and move away from prioritising HAP as a solution to the current crisis. For our part, NOVAS continues to acquire family homes in Limerick and Dublin for homeless families in these regions.
In other news, NOVAS have opened a regional office in Tipperary in response to increasing demand for our services in the region.
We also share the stories of two NOVAS clients who were formerly living in our emergency accommodation services but are now living in their own accommodation.
