In the latter months of 2021, there were significant rises in the number of people becoming homeless, with subsequent demand for services. Throughout the year, NOVAS supported 5,978 people, an increase of 5% from the previous twelve-month period.
“DIAL helped me get back into education, the staff in DIAL made sure that I had everything I needed.”
Our 2021 Annual Report
For the first time ever, NOVAS supported just under 6,000 people in 2021. Single adults found it very difficult to secure long-term tenancies, as availability in the private rented market continued to contract. As a result, they spent long periods of time stuck in emergency accommodation.
Here we take a look back at 2021 and highlight the issues facing our clients and the means in which we offer support, advice and solutions.
Support Us
NOVAS is a voluntary organisation working with single adults, families and children who are disadvantaged and socially excluded; primarily those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. We are also an Approved Housing Body who provide social housing for low-income families and single adults in local communities throughout Ireland. We offer bespoke, client-centred services, based on empirical evidence of fifteen years’ experience of working with people who are homeless in Ireland. We work with some of society’s most marginalised individuals and believe everyone is entitled to a home.
