Volunteering opportunities

Street Outreach (Soup Run):

Novas’ Street Outreach programme operates seven nights a week, providing a hot meal, a kind word and support to marginalised people on the streets of Limerick City. Those availing of the service are among the most vulnerable in society. The programme is provided on a voluntary basis and currently a team of 50 volunteers assist with it. New applicants will receive training and support throughout their volunteering term. Apply

Befriending Volunteer:
This is a “Buddy System”, supporting Novas clients in long-term accommodation. Volunteers are partnered with residents in our Limerick, Tralee and Thurles Services. The aim of this programme is to offer clients support, friendship and engagement in their local communities. Applicants for this role will undergo bespoke training and will be aligned to a project worker in our service. Apply

Foodcloud Driver:
Novas is very fortunate to be part of the Foodcloud Programme – www.foodcloud.ie. Each evening we benefit from donations of unsold food at various Tesco’s around the country. These donations are collected by a team of volunteers and dropped to a designated service. This team are also called upon from time to time to carry out ad hoc driving requirements. Applicants for this role must have a full clean driving licence and be over 25 years of age. Apply

Unique Volunteer Skills:
If you have a particular skill or hobby that you think might benefit Novas clients, we would love to meet you and see how we could integrate you into one of our many services. Past examples of such volunteers include aroma therapists, artists and beauticians who were all able to share their hobbies/skills with our clients. Garda Clearance is required for this role. Apply

Fundraising:
Fundraising plays a vital role in maintaining the services Novas provide throughout the country. We are always looking for people who are interested in supporting Novas for a series of different events throughout the year. If you are interested in organising or taking part in one of the many runs throughout the country, coordinating a table quiz, charity sports event, taking part in street collections, bag packing or any other event, please let us know. All money raised goes directly to maintaining our services. Apply

Fundraising

Fundraising is a vital source of income for Novas that enables us to extend our services, develop new ones and support more and more vulnerable people throughout Ireland.

Whether you are organising an event that involves a few of your friends and family or your entire community, your support helps us make a difference to the lives of some of society’s most marginalised individuals and families.See our fundraising toolkit for some great ideas on how you can get involved.

Landlords

If you would like to support Novas’ campaign to find lasting solutions to homelessness, consider letting your property to a Novas client. Through our Housing First programme, we support both clients and landlords with our dedicated support team, our rent collection arrangements, our 24/7 on-call system and our internal maintenance team.

If you are interested in letting your property or would like to find our more about the internationally successful Housing First model contact Aoife Boyle at aoife.boyle@novas.ie or on 083 3767254.
